Unable to poweroff the box, restart after shutdown

I am testing Gentoo Linux on my Wetek OpenELEC Box. I am using the kernel from https://github.com/wetek-enigma/linux-wetek
Every time I shutdown the box using halt, poweroff or shutdown -h now the box reboots, see the following serial log:
[ 307.016681@0] Power down.
[ 307.016713@0] Restarting Linux version 3.10.76+ (root@vm-gentoo) (gcc version 4.8.4 (Gentoo 4.8.4 p1.5, pie-0.6.1) )

How can I power off the box? I have currently installed Linux on a microSD card and my NAND flash is corrupted. Could that be the cause?

Standby and wake up using WOL would also be great. Is this working with newer kernels?
