Can't Recover / Revert to Official Firmware

fgsfgs Posts: 5WeTek Community Member
Greetings. I attempted to refresh my WeTek Core with the official download of LibreElec currently shipping on their download page. I went for the pin hole install, saw the Android recovery / installation screen which went to the end and rebooted. LibreElec after first boot doesn't seem to be working for me falling automatically to a " # " prompt on every start.

Now I tried to revert to the official firmware for the Core from WeTek, and the pin hole install doesn't show anything. I see the We.Tek boot logo but it doesn't proceed to install anything from the inserted SD card.

Please help. Thank you so much.

    Try this.

You need to download these files:
    https://mega.nz/#F!gphHyByA!dVyiHj9efwsiDPVALpkTAg

Extract it until you get 3 files listed like this (Do not need to be in the same order)

    .zip file
    factory_update_param
    recovery

Copy them to a formmated (FAT32) SDcard

After you have copied the files to your SDcard, follow these steps:

Insert the SDcard with the files in your device.
    Power Off your device
    Disconnect your power supply.
Underneath your Device, you have an update button (Small Hole)
With the update nail provided in your package, press and hold that update button
While pressing, connect your power supply
Keep pressing the button for 10 more seconds.

After the 10 seconds, the installation will start automatically.

You can follow this video to help you apply the steps i mentioned above,

Thank you for answering my request.

I followed your steps carefully this weekend, to no avail. Indeed now I see the Android recovery/installation screen with "installing system update" for a good few minutes, then "erasing" but instead of rebooting to the new image, my unit reboots to the same recovery environment over and over, "installing system update".

So I assume there is something failing with my unit, like the internal memory.

However, before giving up on the unit, I decided to try the OpenElec image published at their website and guess what, it installed flawlessly and I'm now running it. The running system seems to be in stable condition, too.

So, I don't know. I think I'll stick to the OpenElec system for now.

Hi Thrall, Can you repost the link to original Wetek Core firmware so I can restore the Core back to original factory setting? The link above is no longer valid. Thank you

Just to let you all know about my issue with the " Core " model, I tried recently ( twice ) to contact < support@wetek.com > for direct support as recommended and never received a pep; sent my proof of purchase ( direct from manufacturer ) document to no avail.

I'm starting to think hardware warranty with " WeTek " is a joke.

    Anyway.

I've checked the ticket and 2 of my colleagues sent you a message in June on how to recover the device, and you didn't answer back.

Yesterday you sent a new message at 8.57pm...

    Best regards

Hi Thrall, Sorry I put this on the back burner but the link you posted is no longer valid. Can I ask you to post the files again?

I admit to not keeping up with development but is there a WeOS 3.x version for Core available? Thank you for re-posting needed files.
