Is the Play 2 incompatable with the new Kodi 18?

Kodi just updated to 18 on my Play 2, then promptly froze when the dreaded "New Controller" box popped up. I've tried several more times to get it to work, without success.

    Probably this is a question more suited for the kodi forums;
    Anyway, the first step is to get a debug log https://kodi.wiki/view/Debug_log .
    As far as i understand you can't start kodi and won't be able to enable logging from the menu, so this means you'll have to create a file named Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/advancedsettings.xml with this content:
    https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Advanced#Turn_on_debugging_using_a_file_.28advancedsettings.xml.29

    Once that is done, start kodi and have it crash/freeze.
    Then grab the log file that has been created at Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/temp/kodi.log: you can inspect it and see if there's a obvious error message indicating the problem, or upload it somewhere on the web (eg. https://paste.kodi.tv/ ) and ask some other user to looks it up for you. You may want to to inspect the file anyway before uploading it to ensure it doesn't contain any personal data, eg. IP address, username, password, etc..
